Service Disclaimer

Last updated: 31 October 2026

1. General Information

Antilag Performance provides specialist automotive tuning, vehicle security and electronic services from Heywood, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom.

This Service Disclaimer provides important information about the nature, limitations and potential implications of our services.

Our services may include ECU remapping, performance tuning, vehicle security solutions, instrument cluster repairs, electronic module cloning, vehicle coding, VIN coding, crash data services and automotive data adjustment.

Each vehicle is different, and the suitability, availability and outcome of any service depend on its individual condition, configuration and technical requirements.

This disclaimer should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law.

2. ECU Remapping and Performance Tuning

ECU remapping involves modifying certain software settings within a vehicle’s electronic control system.

The effects of remapping can vary depending on the vehicle’s make, model, engine, mileage, maintenance history, mechanical condition, fuel quality and existing modifications.

Any advertised or discussed performance figures are estimates unless expressly confirmed for a specific vehicle.

Antilag Performance does not guarantee a particular increase in horsepower, torque or fuel efficiency unless expressly agreed in writing.

Performance modifications may affect fuel consumption, emissions, component wear, maintenance requirements and the way a vehicle operates.

Customers should ensure their vehicles are mechanically suitable for the requested work and should disclose any known faults or previous modifications before services begin.

3. Vehicle Roadworthiness and Legal Compliance

Vehicle modifications must comply with applicable UK road traffic, construction and use, emissions and roadworthiness requirements.

Some modifications may make a vehicle unsuitable or unlawful for use on public roads.

In particular, removing, disabling or interfering with emissions-control systems may result in a vehicle no longer complying with legal requirements.

These systems may include, where fitted:

  • Diesel particulate filters (DPF).
  • Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems.
  • Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and AdBlue systems.
  • Catalytic converters.
  • Other emissions-control equipment.

Antilag Performance does not represent that a modification is lawful for public-road use simply because it is technically possible.

Any service described as intended for motorsport, competition or off-road use must still comply with all applicable laws. Such a description does not itself make an otherwise unlawful modification permissible.

We reserve the right to refuse work where we reasonably believe that the requested modification would be unlawful, unsafe or inappropriate.

4. MOT Testing and Emissions

Vehicle modifications may affect MOT testing, emissions compliance and roadworthiness.

A vehicle that has been modified may fail an MOT test or become unsuitable for lawful road use.

Passing an MOT test does not necessarily establish that every modification is lawful or that the vehicle complies with all applicable requirements.

Customers should seek appropriate advice about the legal and practical consequences of proposed modifications before authorising work.

5. Vehicle Insurance and Manufacturer Warranties

ECU remapping, security installations, electronic modifications and other vehicle alterations may affect insurance policies and manufacturer warranties.

Customers are responsible for notifying their insurers of relevant modifications and obtaining any required approval.

Failure to disclose modifications may affect insurance cover or claims.

Manufacturer or third-party warranty coverage may also be affected by certain modifications.

Antilag Performance cannot guarantee that an insurer, manufacturer, warranty provider or finance company will approve a particular modification.

6. Existing Mechanical and Electrical Faults

Vehicle tuning and electronic work can reveal previously undetected mechanical or electrical problems.

Before any service, customers should inform us of known issues, including:

  • Engine or transmission faults.
  • Warning lights and diagnostic trouble codes.
  • Previous remapping or software modifications.
  • Electrical faults or intermittent problems.
  • Damaged or previously repaired electronic modules.
  • Aftermarket components or non-standard vehicle configurations.

We may recommend further diagnostic work or decline a service if the vehicle’s condition raises concerns about safety, compatibility or reliability.

We are not responsible for faults that existed before our work or that arise independently of it. This does not exclude liability for damage or loss caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.

7. ECU and Electronic Module Cloning

ECU and module cloning services involve transferring or reproducing compatible electronic information between vehicle components.

The success of these services depends on factors including hardware condition, software compatibility, security restrictions and the integrity of the original data.

A successful outcome cannot be guaranteed where components are damaged, incompatible, corrupted or otherwise unsuitable.

Additional diagnostic work, replacement components or manufacturer-specific programming may be required.

We will explain significant limitations or additional chargeable work before proceeding wherever reasonably practicable.

8. Vehicle Coding, VIN Coding and Configuration

Vehicle coding and configuration services may involve changes to electronic modules, vehicle settings or manufacturer-specific functions.

Not all requested functions are available or supported on every vehicle.

Compatibility may depend on the vehicle’s equipment, software version, electronic architecture and manufacturer restrictions.

VIN-related work will only be undertaken where there is a legitimate, lawful purpose and appropriate authorisation.

Antilag Performance does not knowingly undertake work intended to disguise a vehicle’s identity, misrepresent its history or facilitate unlawful activity.

9. Instrument Cluster Repairs and Data Adjustment

Instrument cluster repairs and data-related services may involve sensitive vehicle information, including mileage-related records.

Such work must be undertaken for legitimate and lawful purposes.

We may request evidence of vehicle ownership, service history, replacement components or other supporting documentation.

We do not knowingly provide services intended to falsify mileage, misrepresent a vehicle’s condition or history, or deceive a buyer or other third party.

Where a repair or replacement affects mileage information, customers remain responsible for making accurate disclosures and maintaining appropriate records.

We reserve the right to decline requests where the purpose or authorisation cannot be reasonably established.

10. Crash Data and Safety-Related Systems

Crash data services may involve electronic modules associated with vehicle safety systems.

Airbag systems, restraint systems and related components are safety-critical.

Any work involving these systems must be compatible with applicable safety requirements and manufacturer procedures.

Electronic data work must not be treated as a substitute for inspecting, repairing or replacing damaged safety components.

A vehicle involved in a collision may require additional checks and repairs before it is safe or lawful to return to service.

We do not represent that clearing or modifying electronic records alone makes a vehicle safe, roadworthy or compliant.

Antilag Performance reserves the right to refuse work that could compromise safety or conceal unresolved safety defects.

11. Vehicle Security Services

Vehicle security services may involve the installation, configuration, diagnosis or repair of electronic security equipment.

The effectiveness of any security system depends on the vehicle, installation, configuration, correct operation and other circumstances.

No security system can guarantee complete protection against theft, unauthorised access or criminal activity.

Customers should follow any operating instructions and maintain appropriate insurance and vehicle security precautions.

We may require proof of ownership or authority before undertaking security-related work.

12. Customer Authorisation and Responsibilities

By requesting a service, customers confirm that they have the legal authority to authorise work on the vehicle.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate vehicle and contact information.
  • Disclosing known faults and previous modifications.
  • Informing relevant insurers and other parties where required.
  • Ensuring their intended use of the vehicle complies with applicable law.
  • Following any safety, maintenance or operating advice provided.
  • Keeping appropriate records of vehicle modifications and repairs.

We may decline or suspend work if essential information is missing or if there are reasonable concerns about authorisation, safety or legality.

13. Service Results and Limitations

We aim to provide all services with reasonable care and skill.

However, the technical outcome of a service may be affected by factors outside our control, including existing vehicle condition, component failure, manufacturer restrictions and compatibility limitations.

Where a particular outcome is essential, customers should discuss this with us before authorising the work.

Nothing in this disclaimer removes statutory rights relating to the quality of services or remedies available under applicable consumer law.

14. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in this Service Disclaimer excludes or restricts liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Breach of statutory consumer rights where exclusion is prohibited.
  • Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Any responsibility for loss or damage will be determined in accordance with the circumstances, our agreed contractual obligations and applicable law.

15. Changes to This Disclaimer

We may update this Service Disclaimer to reflect changes to our services, technical practices or applicable legal requirements.

The latest version will be published on this page, together with the date of the most recent update.
